IEEEXtreme

IEEE-Xtreme is an annual coding hackathon and challenge held every year in the month of October.  it is a 24-hour hackathon in which IEEE members participate in a group of three or less to solve the particular set of the problems in a limited period of time i.e 24 hours. the competition is underwritten and coordinated by the IEEE membership and Geographic activities department.

IEEE was created by Marko Delimar and Ricardo Varela in the year 2006. for the first time, IEEE-Xtreme was held in 2006 in which a total of 44 countries and a total of 150 students take part. the no. of participants are increasing year wise. in the year 2008, the no. of participants are almost tripled.

Competition rules:

Competition duration is of 24 hours in which a team of three members has to solve 24 problems. all the teams get the same problem and are expected to solve the problem without outside consultation. they don't need to solve all the problem but more the problem's they solve more points they get.competition start at 0:00(UTC ) on the competition date. the problem is submitted online through an online tool that has been hackerrank now in recent years. the marks are awarded according to the type of problem(easy, medium, hard), time taken. and approach to solve the problem.

   The competition is free for those who are IEEE members. but a cost is required to become an IEEE member which changes from country to country. any student undergraduate or graduate can get the paid membership of IEEE.

How to participate in IEEE-Xtreme:

To participate in IEEE-Xtreme you have to take membership of IEEE. for which you have to pay a certain amount of money to get membership.you can pay the money at the official site of IEEE. after that, you are eligible to participate in the competition for 2 successive years.

you can participate either in a team of three members or you can participate alone. you just have to participate in the challenge on the day of competition.

 Competition date:

The 12th IEEE-Xtreme competition is on date 20 October 2018. this competition is conducted by IEEE every year.
